Geyser care

What to do when your geyser leaks: a calm, safe first response

A practical sequence for protecting people and property while you arrange qualified help for a leaking geyser.

A leaking geyser can range from a minor overflow issue to an urgent problem. Do not touch exposed electrical components or attempt a repair if you are unsure it is safe to do so.

If water is actively escaping, move valuables away from the affected area and take a few clear photographs for your own records. If you can safely isolate the water supply to the unit, do so. If not, contact a plumbing professional and explain where the water is coming from.

When you enquire, mention whether the geyser is still heating, whether a relief valve is discharging, and whether water has reached ceilings or electrical fittings. Clear information helps a team prepare for the right type of visit.
